Join DEMASKUS Theater Collective, special friends, and featured guest Calesta Day as we lovingly celebrate the life and legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the indomitable Spirit that dwells within us. It has been said that Dr. King carried one book on his person daily, Howard Thurman’s Jesus and the Disinherited. Through this presentation, Collective members will read portions from Thurman’s classic text that reminds us that “God is on the side of the oppressed,” and highlight the alignment of his teachings with Dr. King’s lesser-known speeches as well as some of his more well-known words. Local and national artists will collaborate to create a soulful presentation framed by beautiful music meant to heal, encourage us to live in wholeness, and remind us of our capacity to continue loving even when our backs remain against the wall. This special presentation will premiere at 1:00p on Facebook and YouTube.
